rubble in its soil, dwarfed by concrete, this tree reveals a tiny scar. Reminds me of a legacy of coming together of putting hands on bark, rubbing ochre and water into the wound for sharing. I see this tree everyday but only noticed this scar recently while drinking coffee and the subtle scar startled me into reflecting on the fact that there has been many times i stood in front of this tree and not acknowledged them. Instead i stared at my phone, my emails and looking to a future that might not come rather than thanking this tree for their resilience and strength
